The visitors came from behind after Romelu Lukaku fired in to reward Everton for their early dominance.
Palace equalised through a Mile Jedinak penalty on 30 minutes before Fraizer Campbell’s header and Yannick Bolasie’s low shot put them firmly in control.
A Leighton Baines penalty gave Everton hope late on but Palace held on.
This is a less brave and bold Palace to the one led by Tony Pulis that secured an impressive 3-2 win on this ground at the end of last season but they remain physically competitive and tactically astute under the experienced Neil Warnock, who now has a win to go with the two draws with which he began his second spell in charge of the club.
West Brom also recorded their first win of the season and moved off the bottom of the table thanks to James Morrison’s second-half header against Tottenham.
The Scotland international nodded in, unmarked, to earn his side their first victory at Spurs in 30 years.
It was a deserved three points for the Baggies, who also went close through Saido Berahino and Craig Gardner. Spurs were frustrated by brilliant Joleon Lescott defending, while Roberto Soldado had a low shot saved.
That was Tottenham’s only effort on target on a very disappointing day for the north London club, who have only picked up one point from a possible nine after beginning the season with consecutive wins. – BBC Sport.
