CSL to hold awards, Lovemore Zigara in Gweru
THE Zifa Central Soccer League (CSL) is set to honour the region’s champions Shabanie Mine at an awards’ presentation ceremony next Sunday.
The CSL annual general meeting will also be held on the same day.
Sports journalists that covered the region’s games extensively are set to converge tomorrow to select the region’s best three players as well as the goalkeeper of the year and coach of the year.
CSL chairman Stanley Chapeta said the awards are meant to motivate clubs and players to improve the competitiveness of the league.
“We are going to honour Shabanie Mine for winning the region’s championship. We are also going to present individual awards as a way of appreciating excellence. This is also a way of motivating other clubs and individuals to do well, which in turn will make our league more competitive,” Chapeta said.
“We are also going to hold our AGM on the same day to review the just-ended season and map the way forward.”
Other awards to be presented include the region’s top goal scorer, the region’s referee of the year and most disciplined team.
Zifa Northern and Southern Regions have already honoured outstanding players and officials.
