The five-day festivities – which kicked off at the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe in Harare yesterday will see Cuban nationals based in Zimbabwe joining hands with their Zimbabwean counterparts in celebrating the event.
Highlights include Cuban film documentaries, Cuban literature, traditional Cuban fashion shows, Cuban art among others that will be on exhibition.
Some of the documentaries to be screened include “Tipped Wings”, “Wifredo Lam”, “A Black and White Story” and “Solidarity with Panama Special School”.
A panel of Zimbabwean and Cuban graduates including Lovemore Gwati, Noel Jasi and Caleb Mharapara will also present a discussion on Cuban Education and Health while the Cuban Medical Brigade will have a presentation on Development and Medicine in Cuba.
Another interesting highlight of the event will be that on Cuban tourism which is one of the world’s fascinating tourism sectors.
This segment will be accompanied by a look at the places of interest that Cuba has in store and of course its rum, cigars, dishes, Cuban dances and people.
For casino lovers, there will also be sampling of the game while three Cuban documentaries “A Dream Come True”, Identity” and “Playing the Tres” will bring the curtain down on Saturday.
His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Zimbabwe Mr Enrique A. Prieto Lopez graced the event.
Cuba and Zimbabwe have strong ties dating back to the liberation struggle when the two countries became all-weather friends.
Zimbabwe has been sending its professionals including medical doctors to receive training in that country.
