CUE MASTERS POOL LEAGUE KICKS OFF WITH INAUGURAL SINGLES TOURNAMENT

THE Cue Masters Pool League (CMPL) is set to host its inaugural singles

tournament on August 2 and 3, featuring top pool players from within the CMPLleague.

The tournament will be held at Globe Trotter Leisure Centre along theNew Parliament Road, New Marlborough.he tournament, which boasts a prize of over US$1,000, will cater forvarious categories, which include over 40s Men, under 40s men, and ladies, promoting inclusivity and healthy competition. CMPL, a group of professionals from various industries, including industrialists, bankers, doctors and engineers, has been instrumental in promoting the sport and fighting substance abuse among the youths.

With 17 clubs across Harare, Norton, Chitungwiza and Nyabira, the league has become a hub for pool enthusiasts.Ray Kanyera, the tournaments manager for CMPL, said they are trying to provide a platform for people of diverse backgrounds to come together and have a great time.

“We aim to create a platform where professionals from various fields whoare also pool enthusiasts can network and connect on weekends.

“We are a group of professionals (industrialists, bankers, doctors, engineers, businessmen just to mention a few and we have managed to incorporate theyouths into CMPL and helped in promoting the fight against substance abuseamong these youths,” he said.

Other teams in the CMPL include Bolero Pool Club (Highlands), Bolt Pool Club (Kuwadzana), Cheers Pool Club (Mt Hampden, Inyathi), City Sports PC (CBD, Hre), Duriro Pool Club (Coventry Road, Workington), Eves Pools Club (Birmingham Road, Workington), Kweneng Pool Club (Norton), Maboss PC (Nyabira), Milo PS (Mt Hampden), Nandis PC (Malborough), Tachaz PC (Chitungwiza), Legends of Londoners (Strathaven Shops), Ligi (Malbereign), Ligi CBD, Rangers PC (WESTLEA) and BlueKeg (MBARE).

The tournament promises to be an exciting event, with players battling it out for cash prizes.

CMPL’s efforts to promote the sport and support the community are commendable and this tournament is set to be a highlight of the pool calendar.
