New book “Mhuri yeZimbabwe” that explores the culture of the indigenous people of Zimbabwe will be launched today at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe.
Author of the book Taazara Munhumutema said they have made some corrections on the original version that was published in 2013.
“We made some grammatical changes to the original book making it fit for us to launch the new version at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe today,” he said.
There are no changes to the contents of the book.
For him, the ideas in the book came in the 70s.
“I had the ideas several years back, but then it took me long time to come up with the idea of having it in book form,” he said.
He said there are a lot of issues that were addressed in the book.
“Our culture is our pride and as writers, we need to share these ideas with the rest of the people in the country,” he said.
He said he has managed to capture several issues he felt needed attention.
“Our culture captures different issues and in that book we have managed to explore them so that people can learn about them and put them into practice,” he said.
The book will be launched by Senator Chief Fortune Charumbira who is also president of the Chiefs’ Council of Zimbabwe.
