A non-governmental organisation specialising in culture and arts, The Culture Fund Zimbabwe Trust has decided to rope in seasoned artists in its efforts to enhance and support the growth of arts and culture from grassroots level.
Seasoned artists from popular groups and organisations like IYASA, CHIPAWO and Bembera have been engaged in Culture Fund’s quest to promote arts education and will be assisting in the mentoring of primary school children in traditional dance as well as music.
Culture Fund Zimbabwe Trust programmes officer, Simbarashe Mudhokwani confirmed that artists from various groups and organisation are set to mentor primary school kids and give them the basic foundation of the arts industry.
“Culture Fund Zimbabwe Trust is there to support arts education and there is no better way of doing that but from the grassroots and we are targeting primary schools.
“We have been contacted by IYASA and Bembera among other groups.
“These will be entrusted with a number of primary schools which will be under their guidance, tutelage and guidance in their quest to perfect the arts ,” said Mudhokwani.
A number of primary schools are thus set to benefit immensely from the exercise as they will go through the mentorship of individuals who are already in the industry. “It’s important that artists give not only guidance but also inspiration to the school kids.
“That will go a long way in the lives of kids as some can actually get motivated which will ultimately serve the purpose of safeguarding both the arts industry and the culture at large.”
