DANIEL Hondo, the Pitbulls coach, believes they have all it takes to defend their Exide 7s series Under-21 rugby title.
The curtain comes down on the championship at Belgravia Sports Club tomorrow.
The Churchill based side now have a girls side who still need time to adjust to the demands of competition. The boys’ side are yet to test defeat.
Supported by Sports for Life, who also specialise in boxing, Pitbulls have several former Churchill High School students, who have made an impact, at national level.
The boys’ team managed a clean sweep of honours, in the first two editions, held in 2018 and 2019. Last year, the tournament was cancelled, due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Pitbulls have a strong side, despite losing some of their key players, who helped them win the inaugural tournament.
Hondo believes they are going in the right direction. Two years ago, they beat a Mutare side, in the final, which had players who have since represented the country, at senior level, in the Muneta twins — Munashe and Munopa.
The twins are now part of the Sables.
Mathew Owuru, who was part of the Pitbulls, is now in college in the United States.
