ZimTalent Hunt will today hand over five albums and EPs to their 2014 winner, Nicholas Kurangwa, and other four finalists at a ceremony to be held at the Zimbabwe National Arts Council Music Complex Auditorium.

The ceremony, which is expected to start in the afternoon, will be officiated by the National Arts Council while the director of the Zimbabwe College of Music, Mrs R Chigwanda, and other artistes will also attend.

In a statement, ZimTalent director Mr Shepherd Munyawiri said the journey had been exciting.

“We are happy to have finally put to finish the five albums from our first online voice competition (ZiTH 2014). Our winner Nicholas Kurangwa aka Nick Kuraz with five finalists Rugare Natalie Chimombe, Eunice Nomagugu Ncube aka Nyce, Liberty Madanhire aka Leefree, Fungai Mombeshora and Ngoni Chilwa aka Avry will be handed over their albums tomorrow,” he said.

Mr Munyawiri said the albums are a follow-up to the artistes’ singles launch in March this year.

“In March, we launched singles for the winner and each of the finalists at a function in Harare and as ZimTalent we then followed this development up with the recording of albums and EPs for the artistes as part of their development and exposure to the music industry”, he added.

He said the songs are a true sign that the young artistes show great potential. “As ZimTalent, we are pleased to announce that these youngsters have composed, wrote and performed all the songs on these albums or EPs which is a sure sign that they have what it takes in the industry. The albums or EPs have been completed and packaged and ready for the audience like any other composed artiste’s work,” he said.

ZimTalent, formed in 2014 to discover, nurture, develop, protect, place and showcase Zimbabwean talent in appropriate markets, has several talent search methods, which include discovering talents through competitions.

Last year, they held their first online voice competition (ZiTH Voice 2014) and 53 contestants were selected by the public and this year the search continues.
