Academic and political analysts Professors Jonathan Moyo and Claude Mararike are expected to tackle the two topics.
Prof Moyo will deal with the topic “48 Years of Pan-Africanism: Successes and Failures” while Prof Mararike will look at Zimbabwe-Europe relations from the historical and cultural perspectives.
An evening of live musical and poetry performances would follow the lecture.
Already Too Open Band, Rimwero Crew and CUT Poets’ Corner and Arts Forum have confirmed their participation, as part of festivities to mark Africa Day.
CUT director of marketing and public relations Mr Tapera Musekiwa said universities should set the agenda and affect the communities they are based in.
“As the university in the province we should also be at the forefront in helping set the Pan-African agenda.
“People usually forget their roots and celebrating their Africaness. This is part of our drive to ensure that we are also part of the community and affect it in a positive way,” he said.
Mr Musekiwa said the event was organised after the realisation that the day was usually characterised by low-key events.
