MUTUAL Cycling Club will hold its last race of the year tomorrow as part of preparations for a tour of Botswana where they were invited for the Annual Charity Challenge on October 23.

Tomorrow’s  race will see 10 cyclists covering a total distance of 104km in a two lap race from the National University of Science and Technology (Nust), past Danger along Gwanda Road.

The top three will each walk away with a bike.

“This will be the club’s last race of the year as we prepare to tour Botswana. The main aim of the race is to help our guys keep fit for the tour. Last week when we took part in the Motlouse tour, we really impressed and were invited for another tour, so we need to keep fit,” said Mutual manager John Machekera.

The club sent a team of three cyclists to Botswana who took part in the Motlouse Cycle tour last week. Two of them emerged second while the other one managed eighth position in their respective races.

Machekera also appealed to well-wishers for assistance to help meet the tour expenses.

“Cycling is a very expensive sport and we struggle to get sponsors. Sometimes we are forced to fork money from our own pockets, especially when going on tours. We appeal for any assistance from anyone willing to help, especially with supplements,” Machekera said.
