AN ADULTEROUS Gwatemba Primary School headmaster in Filabusi learnt the hard way when his smallhouse ended up cheating on him and lied that he was the father of her child.
This came out when the headmaster, Josphat Nare, who is also a resident of Nkulumane suburb in Bulawayo was dragged to the maintenance court by his wife seeking $210 monthly spousal maintenance.
Nare’s wife Mrs Angular Nare (48) filed a maintenance application in which she said the headmaster was neglecting his family.
“I am standing on behalf of Nare family your worship. We are in need of money from my husband who abandoned me and his parents. I need the money to buy food and pay house bills,” said Mrs Nare.
Nare told the court that his wife applied for maintenance to fix him as he had engaged in an extra-marital affair.
He told the magistrate that his small house lied about the paternity of a child born during their affair, but he was prepared to pay maintenance to his wife to save his marriage.
“I have been supporting my family throughout. I work in Filabusi and l had an affair with this woman who later came to me saying that we had a child together,” he said.
“We fought with that woman and the matter was taken to the maintenance court at Filabusi where I denied until I applied for paternity tests. I paid for the whole procedure. The results came this week and they will be read on October 19 in court, but I was informed that Iam not the father.”
He said paying $210 maintenance was nothing compared to divorce.
The headmaster said it was not easy to leave his wife who gave him two grown up children aged 21 and 28 years.
Mr Musiiwa ordered Nare to pay $210 as spousal maintenance with effective from October 30.
