Cyclone Ree charms POY

The former Miss Personality 2011 and socialite Lungile “Cyclone Ree” Mathe features in POY’s upcoming hip-hop music video that is directed by Andy Cutta.

It was shot last Sunday.

The video was shot at Ascot, Bams Lodge and Waterside and other scenes that capture the city.

Mabomba is the title track of POY’s album released in January.

In an interview yesterday, Nicholas “POY” Muchinguri, commended the level of professionalism that Cyclone Ree showed during the shoot.

He said the video showed that quality music videos could be produced in the city.

“We have a top class director Andy Cutta who will be doing amazing stuff on the video.

“Contrary to perceptions Cyclone Ree is the most humble and down to earth person, her acting talent for me is extraordinary. She showed a high level of professionalism in the video.

“We want to show that Bulawayo has what it takes to produce an excellent music video,” said POY.

He said the video has other local models that do cameo roles.

“We have Givens Chavarika, Shamiso Bonde and Chamila Sibanda. These will be there in the video playing supporting roles. We want to entertain people and show them the various attractions that we have in the city,” said POY.

Cyclone Ree said being in her first music video was exciting and she enjoyed the shoot.

She said working on the video was an opportunity to explore her acting talent.

“It was fantastic and I enjoyed working on the video. I play a classy diva that is looking for POY. There are scenes where I will be in a swim suit. This was a good opportunity to explore my acting talents and I had fun,” said Cyclone Ree.

She said working alongside fellow models was a plus and was looking forward to the video winning the video of the year award.

According to POY the music video is about aliens bombing earth and causing massive destruction.

POY, the Almost Famous hit-maker, last year bagged the Zim Hip-Hop People’s Choice Award at 7 Arts Theatre in Harare.
