UNITED Kingdom-based songstress, Cynthia Mare, has commended the new generation of female artists for making their mark in the male-dominated industry.
Returning home for the first time in a decade to launch her latest album, titled “The Voice Reborn,” in Harare next month, Mare expressed her admiration for fellow young artists led by Nisha Ts.
“Recently, I attended Nisha Ts’ album launch, and I was thoroughly impressed. She is young, talented, and already establishing an international presence.
“With continued support for our local talent, the sky’s the limit for Zimbabwean music.
“Zimbabwean music is definitely making waves internationally. Our biggest artists are being heard across the globe and traveling with their sound. It’s beautiful to see.”
Now that she is back home after 10 years, Mare could not hide her elation after a reunion with fans.
“I’m very happy, very excited. It feels like the right time − almost like a spiritual calling to return to music.
“I didn’t plan it this way, but everything has aligned perfectly. I’m really looking forward to my first show.”
“I had missed Zimbabwe so much. It has a very special place in my heart. I also missed singing and music in general − the energy of performing and creating.
“The most I did during that time was sing at home and occasionally compose new songs.”
She added:
“My plan is to step back into the music industry fully − to hold live shows, interviews, and collaborations.
“I want people to know I’m back, and I can’t wait to meet fans again. I feel very ready to reconnect.
“Honestly, I took a very long break from music, so I can’t say I made strides in that period. But that’s why I’m here now − to start afresh and create new milestones.”
