Sikhumbuzo Moyo
THE local business sector has been left reeling after the sudden death of Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) vice president Clive Oxden-Willows, a man hailed as one of the fiercest champions of industrial reform.
Oxden-Willows, who was also the boss at Ref Air, passed away yesterday, sending shockwaves across boardrooms and factory floors alike.
United Refineries Group CEO and industry heavyweight Busisa Moyo broke the news this morning on X, calling it a heartbreaking loss for the Matabeleland Chamber of Industries and beyond.
“It is with profound sadness that we have come to know of the passing of Mr Clive Oxden-Willows… Clive was our Vice President for the Matabeleland Chamber of Industries,” Moyo wrote.
In an emotional Facebook post, Moyo described the late industrialist as a fearless advocate for business-friendly policies, saying he never backed down when red tape or hostile regulations threatened the survival of local industries.
“He refused to be swayed by any other motive except that of friendly, low-cost and progressive policies. We have lost a formidable advocate and voice in the business community, where very few care and label the remnants of industry as ‘cry babies’,” said Moyo.
Oxden-Willows is survived by his wife Jackie and children Brett, Nigel, Karen and Glen.
The boardroom has lost a lion.
May his legacy live on.
