DA warns rogue traditional leaders

Villagers in Zvimba District masquerading as traditional leaders should stop the practice or face the full wrath of the law, a Government official has warned. Zvimba District Administrator Mr Andrew Tizora issued the warning during an all stakeholder meeting held at Ashyre Country Club in Zvimba North constituency.

The meeting was organised by Zvimba North MP Cde Marian Chombo last week.
Mr Tizora was responding to concerns raised by Headman Katizagombo, who appealed to the DA to intervene after bogus traditional leaders were challenging his boundaries.

Mr Katizagombo said: “The bogus traditional leaders are claiming some of our land saying that the area is in Guruve South and belongs to the Goteka Clan.”

Mr Tizora said that those with genuine claims knew the proper procedure to follow and offices to appeal to.
“Chieftainship does not just fall from the sky,” he said. “Those who feel they have been born in houses of chieftainships and feel deprived of their leadership know the responsible offices which deal with those issues and if not satisfied can even appeal to the State President.
