Bulawayo-based events company, Dab Three Events has teamed up with the Bulawayo City Council and Benniah Foods to launch the Bulawayo Kasi to Kasi Talent Search, a city-wide initiative aimed at providing a platform for emerging local talent.
This series of talent showcases, which will span various townships, is designed to make performance spaces more accessible to Bulawayo’s budding artistes. It comes in response to longstanding frustrations from local artistes who feel left out of events that could boost their careers.
The inaugural event will be held tomorrow at the Inyathi Youth Centre in Mpopoma and will later extend to other neighbourhoods, including Mzilikazi, Cowdray Park, and Pumula.
Dab Three Events marketing director Archford Hadebe said the project was born from a desire to reach talented individuals who often lack access to formal platforms.
“We realised that many people in Bulawayo struggle to find opportunities to showcase their talents. So, we decided to bring the opportunity directly to their townships. The Bulawayo City Council has generously opened up their youth centres across the city for us to use.”
The talent search is open to Bulawayo residents aged 18 to 35 and invites participants from a wide range of art forms, including music, poetry, theatre, dance, and drama.
A panel of renowned artistes will judge the competition, offering feedback and guidance to participants.
Through the Byo Kasi to Kasi Talent Search, Dab Three Events and its partners hope to nurture the city’s creative potential and promote local artistry.
