Dad fined US$100 for head butting son

(39) of Unit N in Chitungwiza admitted to contravening the Domestic Violence Act when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Blessing Murwisi.
Ms Murwisi fined Madenga US$100 for head-butting his son.

The money is payable end of this month and failure to pay would attract a one-month prison term.
Madenga also had one month of his sentence suspended for the next five years. Prosecutor Mr Lovert Muringwa proved that on November 24 and at around 10:30pm, Madenga was drinking beer at a local bar and proceeded home drunk.

On arrival, he saw his son Evidence (21) sleeping on his bed and he woke him up. He demanded to see his June exam result slip.

Evidence told his father that the result slip was taken away by his uncle who stays in Southerton.
This angered Madenga who then threatened to assault him. A few minutes later, Madenga came back and got hold of his son and pulled him up. An argument arose between the two with Evidence screaming for help, with Madenga head-butting him twice during the melee.

A cousin, Lincoln Shone, came to Evidence’s rescue, but Madenga hit him with a brick. Evidence escaped and went on to report the matter to the police, leading to his father’s arrest.
