Oliver Mtukudzi’s wife, Daisy, lost US$1 500, a mobile phone and other valuables when robbers smashed the window of a car she was driving and snatched her handbag on Tuesday evening.The incident took place at the corner of Masotsha Ndlovu Way and Simon Mazorodze Road in Waterfalls, Harare.

She was on her way from a marriage ceremony for Alick Macheso’s daughter, Sharon, in Waterfalls. Daisy was not reachable for comment last night while her husband, Oliver, is on a tour of the United States.

Macheso’s wife, Nyadzisai, confirmed the robbery.
“She phoned us some minutes after she left our house to tell us about the incident. She said robbers smashed the front passenger’s window of her Nissan NP200 when she stopped at the Give Way sign at the junction,” said Nyadzisai.

“She said they snatched her handbag that had US$1 500 cash, a mobile phone, bank cards, identity particulars and keys to her house and office.

“After all the joy we had on Tuesday evening when my daughter Sharon was getting married, we never thought the day would end so sadly.”

Relatives of Sharon’s boyfriend, Kudakwashe Munetsi, paid lobola for the musician’s first born. Munetsi is based in Cape Town, South Africa.
