Chief Mbusi Dakamela of Nkayi has joined leading voices in Zimbabwe’s creative sector at the Creative Economy Conference, being held as part of the KUZANA SCEEZ exhibition at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) Hall 2.

The conference is being attended by Vice-President Kembo Mohadi, who is the guest of honour.
Chief Dakamela, who is among the speakers at the conference, will unpack the role of culture in driving Zimbabwe’s creative economy under the theme “Building Zimbabwe’s Creative Economy Ecosystem Towards Vision 2030.”
Drawing from the success of his annual Imoklomela kaDakamela Cultural Festival, Chief Dakamela is expected to share how the event has become a platform for promoting the creative industry, tourism and business in Matabeleland North.

The festival has brought together artistes, cultural practitioners, businesses and communities, creating opportunities for cultural expression while showcasing the region’s heritage and creative talent.
Chief Dakamela will share the platform with filmmaker and entrepreneur Mr Nigel Munyati and corporate lawyer Mr Muchadeyi Masunda.
The conference comes at a time when the creative industries are increasingly being recognised as an important contributor to economic development, with stakeholders exploring ways of turning Zimbabwe’s abundant creative talent into sustainable businesses and livelihoods.
Discussions will cover key areas of the creative economy, including music, film and television, fashion, publishing, visual and performing arts, digital content, intellectual property, cultural heritage, investment and the commercialisation of creative talent.
For Chief Dakamela, the conference also provides an opportunity to demonstrate how community-driven cultural initiatives can contribute to broader economic development while preserving Zimbabwe’s diverse heritage.
