Ruwa Local Board has officially opened Damofalls Clinic, its largest healthcare facility, to serve residents of the sprawling suburb and surrounding areas, including Eastview, parts of Goromonzi, and Mabvuku.
The polyclinic, which began operations recently, offers outpatient services and Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) services, with plans to introduce comprehensive maternity services in the first quarter of 2026.
Sister Musabayana, a registered midwife working at the facility, said the clinic represents a significant milestone for healthcare delivery in the area.
“I am Sister Musabayana, a registered midwife working at Damofalls Clinic. It’s a new clinic that has just been opened, and we are operating two departments as of now – the EPI department and the outpatient department,” she said.
The clinic’s opening comes as Ruwa continues to experience rapid population growth, with residents previously having to travel considerable distances for healthcare services.
Ms Josephine Mwaitirwa, Public Relations and Corporate Affairs Manager for Ruwa Local Board, described the facility as a game-changer for the local authority.
“We are excited that we have opened Damofalls Clinic, our largest clinic as a council. In the vicinity of Ruwa itself, we expect to be serving people from Ruwa and places like Eastview and parts of Goromonzi and parts of Mabvuku,” said Ms Mwaitirwa.
She added that residents can now access treatment for day-to-day ailments without travelling far from home.
“We are saying Ruwa residents, you can come through to Damofalls Clinic and get treatment for day-to-day ailments. Our outpatient department is fully catered for. Medicines are in place and we have staff to cater for those services,”” she said.
The facility is expected to significantly expand its services next year, with comprehensive maternity care being a key addition.
“We expect that our maternity services, particularly antenatal, labour and postnatal services, will also be in full swing come the first quarter of 2026,” Ms Mwaitirwa explained.

Mayor of Ruwa, Councillor Michael Mataruka, recently toured the facility alongside Town Secretary K.M. Madanhi, Councillor Chuma, and Councillor Nganga.
“The clinic is now operational and providing essential health services to the community. In addition to medical services, residents can conveniently pay their council rates at the clinic, improving access to municipal services,” Mayor Mataruka said during the tour.
This multi-service approach reflects Ruwa Local Board’s commitment to creating accessible service points for residents, combining healthcare delivery with administrative convenience.
The opening of Damofalls Clinic is part of Ruwa Local Board’s broader infrastructure development programme aimed at meeting the needs of its rapidly growing population.
Healthcare services at the clinic are currently focused on outpatient care and immunisation programmes, with qualified medical staff and adequate medicine supplies already in place to serve the community’s immediate healthcare needs.
The planned introduction of maternity services in 2026 will further enhance the clinic’s role as a comprehensive healthcare provider for the greater Ruwa area.
Damofalls Clinic’s launch marks a new era for healthcare in Ruwa, promising improved access, expanded services, and greater convenience for thousands of residents.
