A unique musical showcase is scheduled for Harare’s City Sports Bar tonight as top artistes from different genres take to the stage in a show dubbed “2014: Year of the Groover”. Event organiser Ronnie Bere described the show as a get-together event, which aims to bring various artistes in one place in order to make them more appreciative of one another.
The programme is divided according to musical genres starting with urban grooves, hip hop, and dancehall.
“Our objective is to make the artists realise that they are all Zimbabweans and belong to the same industry.
“We should not differentiate them in a way which makes the music industry more divided, but they should realise that everyone is unique and use their special talents to support each other,” he said.
The guest of honour at the event will be sungura musician Sulumani Chimbetu who is expected to encourage young musicians to work together in promoting the industry as a whole.
A number of artists are expected to grace the occasion including General Sniper Storm, Xtra Large, Diana Samkange, Mzimba, Lady Squanda and Shinsoman.
The line-up of performers include both upcoming and established artistes like Taurai Mandebvu, Maskiri, Madiz, Soul Jah Love, Lady B, Goodchild, Mashabella, King Shady, Trevor Dongo, Terminator, Carlos Green and Final Warning Crew among many others.
The organisers have also included several new artistes who will be making debut appearances at the show including Faith Candy, Logga Diamond, Jarbbuh Gheey and Candy Maine.
“We are appealing to club and venue owners to give urban grooves artistes more slots at their places just as they are doing for
dancehall, that is why we are working on the theme of 2014 being the year of the groover,” said Bere.
