CHINA-BASED chief executive of up-and-coming fashion line, Trust the Process-ZWL, Kudzanai Mbondo was in town on a home visit, punctuated with giving back to his community in Dangamvura, sports teams in particular.

Earlier this month, Mbondo, fondly referred to as Sean Kobz in sporting circles, donated brand new kits to Dangamvura Knights basketball team.

The grassroots team, through which some of the country’s best players have passed, is an important basketball talent nursery for the Dangamvura community.

While showing love to the basketball team since way back, it is with Dangamvura United Football Club that Mbondo is most synonymous with, having once played for the team and currently serving as its board chairman.

As such, it comes as no surprise that he also donated bibs, balls and other training materials to the Division Two team.

Thereafter, Mbondo took time to watch Dangamvura United FC Juniors’ training session, and donated a pair of football boots to their outstanding player.

Mbondo said: “These are some of the community development gestures we have been undertaking for a long time now. While the value could be small, the motivation it gives to our young sportsmen and women is huge.

“For example, the player we gave a pair of football boots at Dangamvura United Juniors training session fascinatingly scored a hat-trick during their next game. It just goes to show how far support and belief can take our young athletes.”

Mbondo also celebrated his return home with a series of community matches, bringing together many younger and more seasoned players in a fun-filled and competitive environment, with winners receiving medals.
