HE’S called Danger and true to his name, he left blood and bruises over just a buck!
Chinhoyi’s Danger Banda (28) earned himself a jail sentence after unleashing a violent attack on a 55-year-old man who owed him US$1. Yes, just one dollar!
The chaotic madness occurred on 2 March 2025. Danger stormed into the victim’s home in Kanami Compound around 11PM demanding US$1 that the elderly man owed him.
“When the victim failed to produce the money, the offender punched him on the forehead, dragged him to his house, and repeatedly struck him on the head with a wooden stick and a pot,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) revealed.
The vicious assault landed the elderly man in pain and Danger in court.
The Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court sentenced him to 12 months in jail. Six months were suspended for three years while the other six were converted to 210 hours of community service at Alaska Primary School.
The NPAZ used the case to caution the public against turning petty arguments into bloody assaults.
“It’s a sobering fact that a significant number of murder cases originate from seemingly meaningless altercations,” said the NPAZ.
From Danger by name to danger by deed, all for a single dollar.
