Dangote said the investment was part of efforts to ensure Nigeria is self-sufficient in consumables instead of depending on importation.
He said currently, Nigeria was wasting money in the importation of about two million tons of sugar from elsewhere.
Dangote was hopeful the project would take off before the end of the year.
He outlined such plans during a visit to the Governor of Kwara state, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed, where he expressed satisfaction with the government’s effort at revolutionising agricultural in the state.
