WARRIORS winger Daniel Msendami continued his impressive start to pre-season at Orlando Pirates by scoring the winning goal in the Buccaneers’ 2-1 victory over Spanish side Cádiz CF in Marbella, Spain.

Msendami must make an impression if he is to stay at the South African giants after he was linked with a possible loan deal.

But that goal marked a significant milestone for the Zimbabwe international, who is looking to establish himself un-der new Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

In Spain, Pirates recovered from an early setback to register their first victory of their European pre-season tour, with Tshepang Moremi cancelling out Cádiz’s opener before turning provider for Msendami.

The Zimbabwean finished confidently just before half-time to seal the win.

Reflecting on the experience, Msendami said scoring against quality European opposition was a confidence boost.

“It is always a special feeling to score, especially in a match like this against a good European side. These are the games that challenge you and help you understand the level you need to maintain every day,” he said.

“Pre-season is about improving as a team and learning what the coach wants from us. Every player is working hard because we all want to be ready when the competitive season starts.”

The former Highlanders, Jwaneng Galaxy, and Marumo Gallants winger said training and playing against strong op-position had accelerated his adaptation at the Soweto giants.

“The intensity has been very high, and that is exactly what every player needs. You learn to make quicker decisions, work harder without the ball and take your opportunities when they come.

“I am enjoying every moment here. My focus is to keep improving, contribute to the team, and make the most of every chance I get.”
