‘’I can confirm that we received a report of theft of six by 90 metre rolls of copper cables from the Zesa depot in Gwanda. An unknown person cut the perimeter fence in the middle of the night and gained entry into the depot and stole the copper cables which are valued at US$2 400. The offence was discovered on the following day by the stores manager and the matter was reported to the police who attended the scene,” said Chief Insp Ndebele.
A source close to the investigations who preferred anonymity said the stolen copper cables were police exhibits that were being kept at the Zesa depot. The source said the suspect first cut the depot perimeter fence and then cut another fence where the copper cables were being kept.
