THE Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts Association (BMPDA) has announced the provincial men’s team that will represent the province at the National Darts Association of Zimbabwe (Ndaz) Easter Championships to be held in Kwekwe later next month.
BMPDA chairman Ndumiso Tshuma said they have conducted a thorough selection and was confident that the team would get the crown.
“We hope that we selected the best team. Thanks to the league that just kicked off they will get some competitions and some have social games over the weekend. Those will come in handy as the contingent gears up for the national competitions,” said Tshuma.
He added that the ladies team will be selected today at Highlanders Club house as the men also go through their training sessions.
“We always fielded a good team but maybe we lack preparation time. This time we want to keep the players busy so they adapt to pressure and keep fit,” Tshuma said.
The captain for the teams will be selected in due course and two reserve players have been selected to be on standby.
Tshuma said they were searching for a sponsor to bankroll their traveling and accommodation expenses.
“We’re trying to secure a sponsor for the event so that we can have our expenses catered for. We don’t want to trouble the players to pay for their own expenses as that would burden them and some may end up pulling out. We appeal to the members of the public and companies to help us with funds,” he said.
