BULAWAYO Metropolitan Darts League teams meet tonight as Archers and Railstars seek to continue their domination of the league. The lead is tightly contested between these two reputable forces and any slip up in points will allow one to topple the other, said Brian Ndlovu of Archers. “We can’t afford to be relaxed in this game rather we must maintain our mental strength and keep our calm. The games aren’t easy but we are looking forward to putting on a good game. Training sessions have been tense as we seek to redefine our game play week in week out,” he said.
Archers are away to Khami who are number 11 on the log.
“We are playing away this week and it is not going to be an easy game, Khami will seek to cause an upset. They will give us a tough game and as favourites the pressure is on us to maintain our reputation. It’s going to be a real test and a game with everything to play for,” said Ndlovu.
Bulawayo Darts Association (BDA) committee member Maclyn Chirwa said the league was now getting into the thick of things and no team is going to be giving up points easily regardless of their position on the log.
“At this point of the league no team is playing to lose and they have been working on their combinations and looking to capitalise on weaknesses and miscalculations of their opponents. Only the resilient teams will collect maximum points and secure their chances of clinching the title,” said Chirwa.
Chirwa, a Railstars player, said pressure was on them ahead of the visit by Parkview Lions tonight.
“We are one of the top teams in the league at the moment which means all other teams would relish defeating us. We can’t afford to lose a match because this would stifle our title hopes and advance the cause of our opponents,” said Chirwa.
