The three, Ozie Khan, Niva Songo and Moses Ndlovu were given badges and received a deserving standing ovation from guests and players as they went up to the podium to receive their awards.
“This is to say thank you to these old men, we appreciate what they have done to the game of darts. During tough times we go to them for advice,” said the association chairman Wayne Brandt.
The trio have between them 110 years of darts experience having started playing the sport way before Independence.
“I started playing this sport in 1979 and up to now, I still play it but on a social level not like these youngsters. I represented the country in the Zone Six Games four times, starting in Gweru, we then went to Lesotho, Namibia and Malawi,” said Khan.
Ndlovu, who plays for Old Nic Mine, said he got into the game in 1976 and like Khan, he has represented the country on numerous occasions.
“I feel honoured about this award, coming at a time that I have just qualified for the international Chamber of Mines competitions,” said Ndlovu.
A jovial Songo said he started the game during the Zimbabwe/Rhodesia era when they played in the compounds.
In an emotional appreciation, national team player, Ndumiso Tshuma gave another darts legend, Jackson “Jack Daniels” Ndimande a brand new Zimbabwe national darts team T-Shirt for his unwavering support to the improvement of darts in Bulawayo.
