A DAUGHTER claims her father told her that it was part of their culture for him to first have sex with her before anyone else.
Vongai Gwinji says her father, Siyakile Gwinji, has been sexually abusing her.
She has turned to the Harare Civil Court for a protection order and has been granted one.
She told the court that between December 2023 and January 2024, Siyakile tried to rape her.
She said he was arrested but was found not guilty at Rotten Row Court.
“I’m leaving in fear because he might rape me and destroy my life.
“He must not come close to me because I am scared of him,” said Vongai.
Siyakile denied the sexual abuse allegations and said he forgave his daughter for taking him to remand prison.
“The sexual abuse matter was handled and I was found not guilty.
“She is afraid that I might revenge for sending me to prison but I have forgiven her.
“I love my daughter as she is,” said Siyakile.
Magistrate Johanna Mukwesha granted Vongai a protection order valid for five years and ordered Siyakile not to threaten, sexually abuse her or visit her current home.
