A Mazowe woman on Monday applied for a protection order against her eldest daughter whom she accused of threatening to kill her family through poisoning and arson because of a dispute over a family farm.

Ellina Dzipange made the revelation at Harare Civil Court where she also accused Zuva Damson (45) of physically assaulting her.

“She is my first daughter and I want her to be evicted from Division 3 Lot 1 Maryville, Mazowe, where we stay with my husband and other children,” she said.

“I now fear for the life of my family because of the physical harassment and death threats we are receiving from her every time. That is why I am seeking a protection order against her. She is very aggressive.”

In response, Damson said the dispute started when she reported illegal mining activities within their farm to the police in Mazowe and the Environmental Management Agency (EMA).

“I have been staying at the farm for over 15 years, Your Worship, and every child has been given a portion to do farming and I am fully utilising mine,” she said.

“The problem is that there are people mining gold illegally at the farm and they are stealing my produce at night, so I reported the matter to the police and EMA.”

Damson admitted having differences with her mother, but denied physically assaulting her.

“I am very aggressive when it comes to fighting for what is really mine, Your Worship, and I use the right channel that is why I reported the matter of illegal mining to the responsible offices,” she said.

Magistrate Ms Tilda Mazhande granted the protection order and warned Damson against physically assaulting or verbally abusing her mother.

Ms Dzipange failed to have her daughter evicted from the farm after she submitted her application to the wrong court.
