Daughter versus Mother. . . child claims mum doesn’t want her to know her father?

A HARARE woman was yesterday dragged to the Harare Civil Court on accusations of disturbing her daughter’s peace.

Sharlot Mapfumo applied for a protection order against her mother, Prisca Mapfumo, accusing her of physical and verbal abuse.

“She has developed a habit of beating me up and pouring water on me.

“At one point when I came back home feeling unwell, she gave me coarse salt which she got from an Apostolic church sect and started throwing it at me,” she said.

Sharlot told magistrate Tamara Chibindi that the main issue between them was that her mother did not want her to know her father.

“The main cause of our problem is I do not know my father and she is not willing to tell me. “Whenever I ask her about my father, she tells me that she hates me for that because my father did not compensate her for using her.

“She even attacks me, but I cannot fight back,” she said.

However, Prisca denied the accusations.

“She is lying and she is very rude. All she is saying is new to me.

“I was once granted a protection order against her because she used to beat me up.

“She calls me a prostitute and told me that she is educated and wants to deal with me.”

Magistrate Chibindi dismissed the case for lack of merit.
