SABLES coach Brendon Dawson has trimmed his squad to 24 players, who are expected to take part in the Tri-Nationals rugby series in Windhoek, Namibia. The tourney is expected to get underway this Friday with three countries — Kenya, Zimbabwe and hosts Namibia —taking part.
The 24 players were selected during the four-day camp at Hartsfield in Bulawayo.
The Sables will be captained by Daniel Hondo. Simba Chirimuuta, Shayne Makombe, Graham Logan, Jakov Jakov and Kuda Chiwanza are the players who were dropped from the Squad.
Dawson hailed the players for their commitment during the camp. The Sables were expected to fly to Harare last night after their training camp in Bulawayo.
“I was happy with our training. Everything went according to plan and the players were co-operating well during our camp.
“We had no injuries. Our new squad is good, we are leaving Bulawayo tonight (last night) and then depart Harare on Wednesday,” said Dawson. A strong technical side comprising technical director Liam Middleton, assistant coach Cyprian Mandenge and Grant Mitchell has been busy helping Dawson in preparing the Sables.
