De Boer favourite

LONDON. — Following the sacking of Roberto Martinez, the vacancy at Everton has been linked with three candidates across Europe. The blue corner of Merseyside showed Martinez the door following three years as manager.

The former Wigan mentor had an underwhelming 2015/16 season as Everton find themselves in 12th position in the English Premier League standings.

Everton end their campaign against Norwich City tomorrow, who have already been relegated to the Championship.

After axing the Spaniard, the Everton hierarchy have indicated that they want to start afresh before the summer transfer season.

Frank de Boer confirmed that he is leaving Ajax Amsterdam as the Eredivisie came to an end with PSV Eindhoven beating their Dutch rivals to the league.

The Dutchman has been immediately linked with the job and reports suggest that he is interested to take on the task.

De Boer’s fellow countryman, Ronald Koeman, is also being touted to fill the managerial void. — AFP.
