BRENDON de Jonge recorded his first top 10 finish of the European Tour after an impressive fifth place finish at the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Golf Course in Sun City, South Africa, yesterday. The United States-based Zimbabwean golfer, playing his first second tournament in South Africa in 16 years, carded a 66 on the final day to make the top five.
De Jonge returned scores of 70, 68, 69 and 66 in the 30-man field. In the past, he has been labelled a poor finisher but the big golfer will certainly be charmed by the way he finished strongly in South Africa with his six-under-par 66 one of the best rounds of the day.
De Jonge was six shots behind Thomas Bjorn of Denmark, who beat the overnight leader, to win the tournament by two strokes.
