IN-FORM Zimbabwean golfer Brendon de Jonge had another good start in the first round of the John Deere Classic at the TPC Deere Classic, at Silvis, Illinois, in the US PGA Tour.
De Jonge fired a sizzling six-under-par 66 and said he was happy with his performance.
“I am so happy with the performance. I was disappointed with my finishing but, at last, it was good,” said De Jonge.
“I played nicely during the round, the course is in good condition, no breeze so it was fantastic. I have a couple of decent starts this season and I am not worried. I managed to drive well and did not want to miss like what happened on hole number nine .
“I hope to make more birdies from the start and continue until the final four rounds, hopefully.”
De Jonge is looking for his breakthrough win on the US PGA in an event that has a US$4,7 million purse and a winning share of US$846 000 and 500 FedEx cup points. Zach Johnson, Rory Sabbatini and Brian Harman were tied in the lead after shooting identical 63s.
