FORMER Highlanders FC head coach Hendrick Pieter De Jongh has tipped his former paymasters to win the 2022 Chibuku Super Cup.
De Jongh won the country’s top cup competition with Highlanders in 2019.
Among the other favourites the Dutchman named are Dynamos, FC Platinum, Chicken Inn and Manica Diamonds.
However, the gaffer advised the teams to guard against complacency.
“In a cup competition a smaller team can win against a bigger team because the pressure for the bigger team is too much.
“FC Platinum, Chicken Inn, Dynamos, Manica Dynamos and Bulawayo Chiefs have the high pressure to win it.
“In cup football, a smaller team can win against a higher team because what is important in a cup competition is the mentality and discipline. It’s only the 90 minutes and extra time that make the difference to qualify to the next round,” said De Jongh.
De Jongh said he is also of the view that all the teams that have qualified to the next stage have an equal chance of hoisting the trophy.
“Every team that has qualified for the last eight has the hope to win the cup. That on its own makes the cup competition unpredictable,” said the nomadic coach who also had a stint with League champions, FC Platinum.
