‘Dead man’ resurfaces!

THE family of John Thame thought they had buried their 28-year-old relative in 1989.

But reports that a man who looked like him was spotted at a petrol station eating from dustbins could no longer be ignored.

The man, who was buried 33 years ago, may be alive!

A witness close to the family told Daily Sun that the man was spotted on many occasions at a filling station along the N1 in Bandelierkop near Louis Trichardt, Limpopo, South Africa.

“Recently, the Thame family was called to see for themselves,” said the witness.

“They were convinced that the man was John. They took him to their home where they are looking after him.”

The witness said the man is not speaking clearly.

John would now be 61-years-old.

“Sometimes it seems he is speaking Shona. He is frail and looks as if he has suffered a lot,” said the witness.

Another source added that the family has opted to do DNA tests before taking further steps.

The news saw residents of Magau gathering outside the Thame family home.

Family member Linda Thame said they were asking for privacy while they prepared for the DNA process. She said they will reveal all the details once the results have been received.

The family may have buried the wrong person at the time as the corpse was not properly checked before the funeral.

Sangoma Joyce Nemaunga said when a person rises from the dead, a ritual must be performed so that they do not return to the people.

“The ritual is for that person’s protection and further makes the people who did that to forget about him,” she said.

A relative said when the cops arrived, they suggested that DNA testing should be conducted and his grave must be dug.

Limpopo police spokesman Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said they do not have a death report for the man the family said died at Tshilidzini Hospital, so there is not much they could say.

“As police, we work according to reports which tell us what’s the cause of death. But people who were found eating from the dustbin cannot be the police’s responsibility,” Mojapelo said.

Teenager nailed to a tree

The 19-year-old boy, Collins Sambaya, who was nailed to a tree for allegedly stealing a radio has pleaded to social media users to stop joking about his ordeal.

Sambaya is currently receiving treatment at the Itando Mission of Hope and Health Care Centre in Kenya after residents freed him.

His hands were nailed to a tree by one Elvis Irime, who accused him of stealing a radio said to be worth 6 000 Kenyan Shillings (US$52).

“People should stop comparing me to Jesus or the two thieves who were crucified with him on the cross. I’m a victim of torture. In fact, I believe Jesus saved me from the jaws of death,” said Sambaya.

He added that the incident has transformed him and he now wants to go back to school.

“I want to become a useful person in the society in future, after all, I went through.” Sambaya said.

He, however, maintained that he never stole the radio.

“Why would I steal a radio when my grandfather owns one and my uncle has at least three of them?” he said.

Narrating the incident that happened on February 18, Sambaya’s grandfather said: “It occurred at around 2pm but I only got wind of the situation at around 5pm. The suspects came to our home and tricked my grandson into following them into their household where they committed the act,” Henry told Citizen Digital.

“My grandson is innocent. A few days ago, the suspects took my grandson to a nearby police station where they reported him for allegedly stealing the said radio. Officers, however, freed him after establishing that there was no evidence to support the pair’s allegations.”

House maid kills boss’ toddler

A Nigerian teenage girl living in Enugu State known as Chiamaka Odo is in police custody for the murder of a six-month-old baby belonging to her employer.

Chiamaka who is 14 years of age reportedly strangled the helpless baby to death to please a cult group called Ogoloma.

She was arrested by operatives of the Lagos state police command.

According to a press briefing by the image-maker of the police command in the state, the suspect confessed to being a member of the cult.

Adekunle Ajisebutu said: “On February 6, 2022, a 14-year-old female nanny strangled her mistress’ son, Jayden Osokolo, kept in her custody to death. The suspect, Chiamaka Odo, confessed to be a member of the Ogoloma cult group in Enugu State.

During interrogation, she disclosed that members of the cult group requested her to bring the blood of the deceased to the spiritual world hence she carried out the dastardly act.”

Bizarre punishment

A man in Chiradzulu, Malawi was tied to a tree for plying his daily business while the village was mourning.

According to reports, the man whose particulars are not known to this publication is said to have opened his grocery and carried his daily hustle despite the fact that a person had died in the village. The development did not please chiefs and others in authority who later ordered young men to get hold of him and tie him to a tree at the graveyard.

This comes barely a few days after a similar incident happened in Mchinji whereby a man was also tied to a tree for allegedly causing havoc during the funeral ceremony.

The man, Justin Richard, received similar treatment when it was discovered that his uncalled behaviour was influenced by the alcohol he had before showing up at the funeral.

However, the police have condemned such punishments. –Wires.
