Many of the subscribers who were disconnected by their operators have been swarming mobile network offices to complete the registration process and reconnect their SIM cards.
They were not able to make calls or send text messages after the deadline elapsed.
Through the registration exercise, Nigeria is capturing the identity of mobile phone subscribers.
The move is aimed to curb crimes such as fraud and kidnapping.
Clients have to provide their identity numbers and proof of residence to complete the process.
More than 75 percent of Nigeria’s 160 million population are mobile subscribers. — CAJ News.
