DYNAMOS have refused to take the backseat, this time around.
They paraded all the signs that made them the giants they are known to be with a commanding win at Barbourfields yesterday.
They were full value for the victory after bossing all details in all phases of play from start to finish.
It was the duo of Jairos Kasondo and Frank Agyemang, both introduced as second half replacements with just one mission; to work out the magic and get the win, who were the heroes.
The two strikers, who scored in Dynamos’ opening match day 2-1 win over TelOne at Ascot, did just that yesterday. The Glamour Boys, who struggled to just keep their heads above water last season, are now raising their hand amog the leading pack with seven points after three games.
They are only two points off early pacesetters CAPS United in the race.
DeMbare have often struggled to breach Bulawayo Chiefs.
But not this time around.
They were all over their hosts right from the first whistle but they lacked the much-needed conviction in the attacking third.
Captain Shadreck Nyahwa looked to have scored when Bulawayo Chiefs’ substitute goalkeeper Sydney Mozeka, who replaced the injured veteran Matripples Muleya, spilled the ball which appeared to have crossed the line.
The match officials waved play on and the home side held on until the break.
They couldn’t smother the marauding pair of Kasondo and Agyemang though in the second stanza.
Kasondo received a throw in from fellow substitute Mandlenkosi Mlilo inside the box and struck first time to beat Mozeka at the near post.
The far side ref initially flagged it for offside but the laws of the game say otherwise and, after consultations, the goal was given.
Dynamos were cruising from that moment but needed their Cameroonian goalkeeper Iddrisou Nfor Finia, playing for the first time, to thwart Brian Muza from a one-versus-one situation to remain in control.
Just as Bulawayo Chiefs threw several men upfront to possibly squeeze a point, they were caught off-guard at the opposite end when Mlilo’s perfect cross from the right was headed in by Agyemang deep into time added on.
“I am very happy to have scored again today and help my team to this important win,” said Agyemang.
“It was a difficult match but kudos to my teammates for keeping their eyes on the ball.
“We deserved to win and our fans deserved to smile. That’s what we did.
“We are taking each match as they come. I am very impressed with how the team played today. It’s not about me but about the team.” Agyemang was deployed in a somewhat unfamiliar position, playing as a 10.
But he still managed to sparkle after coach Genesis Mangombe gave him a word upon his introduction.
“The message that I got from the coach spurred me,” added Agyemang.
“I took every word and implemented it.”
Kasondo weighed in.
“It’s always good to play well, get to score and then help the team to win,” said Kasondo.
“I am extremely happy for the team.”
