A MASVINGO dealer was found in possession of five lion heads worth US$100 000.

Patson Ndlovu was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo yesterday.

He was released on US$200 bail.

The court heard that officers from the police’s Flora and Fauna unit received a tip-off that Ndlovu and his accomplices were in possession of five lion heads and looking for potential buyers.

They tracked him down to the Avenues area in Harare and they saw him and his accomplices loading the loot into a truck.

They pounced but his three accomplices fled and Ndlovu was arrested after failing to produce a permit allowing him to possess the trophies.

Nomsa Kangara and Mandirasa Chigumira appeared for the State.
