Life is busy, and we understand that this is especially true for parents and families. Your tasks at hand become fuller and you have other priorities that take precedence over quality family time. Some days our parents are so busy tending to children’s needs that they hardly have time for a break.
You have so much on your hands to take care of cooking, washing dishes, working, laundering clothes, naughty behaviour discipline, and so many other things. If telling the truth was an offense, I would rather commit the offense, some of the parents are at war with their children or vice versa. But whatever the case, there are no fine family relationships somewhere in those fine houses.
Those in my circles know me for loving to check on behavioural changes and it excites me more.
Many thanks to the Almighty, I have tasted parental love.
And my heart bleeds towards those of us who have lost parents or guardians and have never tasted the love of a parent.
May the good Lord be your comforter. But what about those with parents who lack such parental love?
This week I bring up this complex and subjective issue, the parent-child relationship. It is important to note that the tragedy of a student lacking parental love is not solely the fault of the child or the parents. There may be several causes why a student’s parents may not show them the affection and support they require. These causes could be anything from parental neglect to absences brought on by job or other obligations to problems with substance misuse, mental health, or even parent loss.
It feels absurd to even consider this topic as a parent when you feel like your entire day revolves around your kids. What else are you doing other than spending time with them?
Children’s development is greatly influenced by the time they spend with their parents, and children’s happiness is a key sign of their mental health. The tragedy of a student who lacks parental love is a deeply distressing and unfortunate situation that can have profound and long-lasting effects on the individual’s emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Not judging the book by its cover, it’s easier to see that this fellow student lacks parental love. Parental love and support are essential for a child’s healthy development, and when this crucial element is absent or lacking, it can have detrimental consequences.
Recently, I indicated that sometimes parents are authors of our misfortunes while we also take the blame as children.
We are also at times to blame for our bad luck. But, if the truth be told, it is mostly the relationship between parents and children that matters most. The parent-child relationship is a fundamental and complex bond that exists between a parent and their child.
As I am always in constant touch with fellow students, it is easy to see that this one has a bad relationship with parents or guardians.
Some of the characters we exhibit away from home are a true reflection of our relationship with our children.
The absence of parental love affects a student’s social development. Parental love provides children with a sense of belonging and acceptance within their family unit.
Without this foundation, students may struggle to form healthy relationships with peers and may experience difficulties in social interactions.
They may feel isolated, have trouble trusting others, and may exhibit behavioural issues as a result of their emotional struggles.
Ideally, you maintain a relationship with your children so that when they go out, they will resemble the love they deserve most.
Quality time with your children deepens your empathy for your child. When you give your full undivided attention and attune to your child, you can often really feel what they are feeling.
You develop deeper empathy for their feelings, you can share their excitement, re-enter the world of imagination, you are also reminded of the beauty of their innocence, and you get to share those magic moments. It is a unique and multifaceted connection that plays a crucial role in the development and well-being of both the parent and the child.
This relationship encompasses various aspects, including emotional, physical, psychological, and social dimensions.
Throughout childhood and adolescence, parents play a vital role in shaping their child’s behaviour, values, beliefs, and overall personality. They serve as role models and guides in areas such as moral development, social skills, education, and decision-making. Parents also contribute to their children’s emotional well-being by offering love, support, empathy, and understanding.
At times after academic burden, we need comfort and encouragement from parents.
Parents provide some cushion.
However, I have noted that some students out there are starving for the love of their parents.
The characteristics of bitterness, hate at college, promiscuity, and drugs among other challenges have hit hard on some students.
The absence of parental love can also have psychological consequences for students. I have seen fellow students, developing feelings of inadequacy, low self-worth, and a lack of confidence in themselves and their abilities. This can manifest as anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues. Without emotional guidance and support from parents, students may struggle to develop healthy coping mechanisms to deal with stress or setbacks in their lives.
It’s not surprising to see other students going wild and even committing suicide. It’s not their blame, they may be lacking parental love.
My parents, develop a relationship with your children.
For fellow parents, effective communication is crucial in maintaining a healthy parent-child relationship. Open lines of communication allow parents to understand their child’s thoughts, feelings, concerns, and aspirations. It also enables children to express themselves freely and seek guidance from their parents when needed.
One of the most significant impacts of lacking parental love is on academic performance. Students who do not receive adequate emotional support from their parents may struggle to concentrate on their studies, have difficulty staying motivated, and may even develop a negative attitude towards education.
The absence of parental involvement in their academic pursuits can result in lower grades, decreased interest in learning, and an overall decline in educational achievement.
The parent-child relationship continues to influence individuals well into adulthood.
On the other hand, negative or dysfunctional parent-child relationships can have adverse effects on an individual’s well-being, leading to issues such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and difficulties in forming healthy relationships.
Creating quality time with each child also tends to greatly minimize sibling rivalry. Children crave quality time with their parents because they have such a deep innate and healthy drive for that attention.
Carving out the time isn’t easy in a parent’s busy life and can take some planning, but the benefits to parent and child alike of spending quality time, also often called special time, make it so worth the effort.
Parental love plays a vital role in shaping a child’s self-esteem, confidence, and overall sense of security. It provides a foundation of emotional support that allows children to explore the world around them with a sense of safety and trust.
When a student lacks this love from their parents, they may experience feelings of loneliness, abandonment, and rejection. These emotions can lead to a range of negative outcomes that affect various aspects of their lives.
As your child experiences your full attention, they draw from you whatever they need to learn, strengthen, grow, even heal, and develop their full potential.
The absence of parental love deprives students of essential emotional support and guidance needed for healthy growth.
