IT has been quite a dark period for some of the country’s prominent hulks who have died in car accidents.
On Saturday morning, Sensei Mugo Muhambi died when the car he was driving collided with a truck in Harare.
He is the latest member of the HULKS BRIGADE to die in an accident in recent years.

COMRADE JACKSON – August 2020
His official name was Munyaradzi Musarurwa but just about everyone called him Comrade Jackson.
He died in Harare when the car he was driving was involved in an accident along Airport Road on a Sunday.
Sensei Mugo even commented on Comrade Jackson’s death unaware that he would also die in similar fashion.
Sensei Mugo, who was the Zimbabwe Karate Union vice-president at the time, said a pillar had fallen.
Veteran bodybuilding judge, Collin Mushunje, said he has lost a friend.
“I am gutted, he was someone who liked his sport and was very disciplined,” said Mushunje.
National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness Development secretary, Keith Chirimanzi, said everyone in their family was in shock.
“It’s shocking to learn of the sudden death of one of our own.’’
Ebrahim Moosa, who worked with Musarurwa, said bodybuilding had lost a “great servant.’’
Quiet Shingai, the national bodybuilding leader, said the industry had been robbed of an influential member.
“Jackson was a brother, a bodybuilder, a businessman and farmer,’’ he said.
“To some of us who share the same childhood suburb, (Glen View) with him, he was a mentor.“He was a motivator.’’

BLESSING SAMARINGA – JUNE 2023.
In June 2023, veteran bodybuilder Blessing Samaringa died in an accident.
His death was announced by Total Fitness Gym, where he worked as an instructor.
“It is with great sadness that we notify our members of the passing of one of our Personal Trainers Blessing Samaringa, mild mannered and always of good temperament, he will be sorely missed.”
Total Fitness Gym members flooded the internet with condolence messages.
“An amazing soul. My sincere condolences to his family. He was soo proud of them and always talked about them. RIP Blessing,” one of them said.
“Always humble and one of the nicest people. My deepest condolences to his family,” added another.
A third said:
“May your soul rest in peace Blessing. You will always be remembered as the quiet, helpful and friendly person that you are.”

EDDIE FRESH – NOVEMBER 2024
Eddie Fresh, whose real name was Eddie Takawira, died in a road accident in November last year. His wife Shylet also died in the same accident. He worked as head of security at a number of Harare’s night clubs.
