Since its birth at the tail end of 2013, it had looked like Club Eden, located at Ascot Racecourse, would enjoy a prolonged stay at the top of Bulawayo club scene.
Week after week, the joint was always packed, as club goers flocked to its dance floors regardless of what time of the month it was.
For almost three years, the club seemed to be the nightspot of choice for those that love to party and do so in style.
However, sometime last year the tide seemed to turn. The masses that crowded the joint seemed to grow smaller by the weekend as the flood slowed down to a trickle.
For most of this year it was the same story yet again. However, just as it was back in 2013, the joint seems to be back in time just for the festive season.
After the downfall of the Eden brand it is now back under a new name. Not only has it got a new name, the joint also has a new look. Club Cosmopolitan opened its doors to much pomp and fanfare last weekend, with city socialites and celebrities rubbing shoulders with ordinary party goers on a night of eye catching glitz and glamour.
From the look of things on the clubas debut night, the changes made at the joint were not merely cosmetic as it has a complete new and fresh look.
With the festive season on the horizon, the club scene has suddenly become very competitive in Bulawayo, with new entrants like Red CafA threatening to upset the applecart and emerge as Bulawayoas favourite nightspot. However, the impressive crowds that turned up over last weekend at Cosmopolitan suggest that the snazzy new look it adopted might just win it the hearts of revellers.
a?Some people thought that this was the end of the club but as you can see from the way it was embraced tonight, the clubas reign is far from over,a? said the jointas veteran club manager, Manu Mahaso on the sidelines of last Fridayas launch.
After overseeing the successful transformation of Jock and Saddle into Club Eden, few would bet against Mahaso and crew from making the a?newa? nightspot a success.
