Debutants clash at Sakubva

MUTARE City coach Kennedy Kachala has warned that Ngezi Platinum are in for a rude awakening at Sakubva tomorrow afternoon. Mutare City, just like Ngezi, will be playing their first Castle Lager Premiership match.

“We are taking the game seriously and it’s a must win match because we also want to please our fans who have been backing us all this time,” said Kachala.

“We are different from Dongo Sawmill and Buffaloes who failed to stay in the Premiership.

“We are here to stay and we are going to shock a lot of people.

“We want to win the Chibuku Cup and represent Zimbabwe in the Confederation Cup next season.”

He said they wanted to do better than Harare City, who crashed out in the first round.

“Harare City disappointed the nation and we are not going to disappoint Zimbabwe like they did because we are going to be fully prepared.

“We are not targeting the league. We just need a top-eight finish and we are in the league to stay.

“On Sunday (tomorrow) we are going to shock a lot of people who have labelled us an ‘old people’s home’. I know we are being mocked and some teams want to frustrate us by that jibe but we are not going to be moved.

“A number of teams in the Premiership have old players in their books. We are more organised than some of the teams who are in the league and people can go ahead and write us off but they are going to be shocked,” he said.

Mutare City are now home to Caleb Masocha, Emmanuel Sinaputa, Chasten Gondonga, Liberty Sako and goalkeeper Phillip Nhete.

The also have also secured Cyprian Muchabaya, who made his name with Masvingo United as a defender before moving to Shabanie Mine.
