A Harare woman has appeared before the Harare Civil Court seeking a peace order against her uncle whom she accuses of chasing her out of her deceased father’s house.
Rachel Bunduri told magistrate Mrs Meenal Narotam that her uncle Ishmael Bunduri and his son Wire Bunduri are insulting her over her late father’s house.
”He told me that l should never come back home. He claims that l am not his brother’s biological daughter therefore the house does not belong to me,” she said.
Rachel told the court that her uncle and his son collect rentals at the house.
She said she wants Ishamel and Wire barred from her parents’ house as it now belongs to her.
”My uncle sent my disabled sister and her child to the rural areas so that he could rent out the place. My parents left me the house and l do not understand why they are saying it does not belong to me when l can prove it,” Rachel said.
Ishmael refuted the allegations and told the court that Rachel had told everyone that she had found her biological father.
”She told everyone that my brother was not her biological father and as a family we made a decision that we cannot allow her to stay at my late brother’s house,” he said.
”She does not pay any bills at the house therefore I do not understand why she feels she is obligated to collect rent when I take care of the water and electricity bills,” he said.
Mrs Narotam adviced the family to take their matter to the Master of the High Court.
