Decibel feels the love, promises new music

UNITED Kingdom-based urban grooves artist, Daniel “Decibel” Mazhandu, believes he still has plenty to offer.

The singer, who topped Zimbabwean music charts with the hits like Chido and Nakai, is back in the country on vacation.

He has promised to drop a number of songs before he returns to his base.

One of the songs, which he promised to deliver, is titled Mukadzi Wemunhu.

He featured Macriss Zim, Brooklyn and Nicky Vybes Masama on this song.

Decibel said the date has not been set as the track is still in the production stages.

He is also marketing his album named Kumusha.

“We are pushing the album; I wrote the album from the perspective of people who relocated from other countries in search of greener pastures.

“We all miss home and, sometimes, we think kumusha kuri nani.

“I instrumentally recorded it live in acoustic since I wanted the focus to be on the message.

“I wanted it to sound as raw and honest as possible because I think a lot of people can relate and it will pull on their heart strings,” he said.

Asked if by any chance he might relocate back to Zimbabwe, he said:

“Yes, I am open to coming back here to my roots.

“Of late, I have been thinking about the idea of relocating back.”

Decibel, who landed in the country ahead of the Urban Grooves Concert, said he felt the love from his fans.

He said the urban grooves genre has done a lot for the music industry.

Although his type of music is a mixture of Afrofusion and dancehall, Decibel believes Zimdancehall and Zim hip hop would not be where they are without the urban grooves movement.
