Dedication, focus pay for crooner

AFRO fusion artist, Lovemore “Lavezh” Nerudzo, believes focus and dedication can take one places.

The 36-year-old, who is singing for fun, is humbled by the response his latest album ‘Chiranga Mapenzi’ has been receiving.

The CD was launched on Good Friday eve where it was auctioned for over US$2000, plus a trip to Victorial Falls, courtesy of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.

Recorded at KOM Studios by Oscar Chamba and Knowledge Nkoma, Chiranga Mapenzi carries 12 tracks.

These include Moyo Une Rudo, Vakakomborerwa, Rudo Chete, Manyemwe, Vatete, dikakushaya Ndomerera, Shingisa Moyo, Kusaziva Kufa, Upfumi Hweropa, Wepamoyo (new version) and Ndenga.

Following the successful launch, Lavezh has vowed to up the game and hold regulars shows.

“I’m an entrepreneur with a passion for music but I don’t have time for live shows, one thing that I am going to seriously consider this time around.

“After the support, which I got at the launch, I need to hold regular shows although my music is popular on radios stations.

“As we speak right now, one of my songs is on number two at the National FM charts and that shows that we are doing very well.

“I have realised that, with focus, I can go places and shine like a star.”

Lavezh, who once managed Jean Masters’ business affairs, said interacting with top artists was inspiring him to record his new music. “I hang around with a number of artists like Sulu and Jean Masters, who liked my voice when I sang one of my songs.

“They persuaded me to record a couple of albums and the response is overwhelming.

“I even collaborated with a top Kenyan diva called Fenny Nerubo on our song called Jehovah and I only see the hand of the Lord in it,” he said.

He added:

“I have realised that visuals are very effective when pushing our works to make an international breakthrough.

“It has always been my wish to make this breakthrough and I am happy that I am beginning to see these new signs now.

“I will do one video with Kenyan gospel musician Fenny before I do others off my latest album.”
