BORN Moses Ngwenya on September 26, 1991, DeeMoses began his musical journey at the tender age of eight.
He started writing and rapping early on, and by the age of 16, he was already recording his music. Besides his passion for music, DeeMoses is also a radio personality and marketing consultant.
“I’m a Marketing and Advertising Consultant and radio personality. I host the Unlimited Element Show on local radio station Skyz Metro FM, and I also do freelance sales and marketing,” he shared.
DeeMoses is a multi-talented artiste who specialises in five genres: rap, reggae, afro beats, dancehall, and drill. His talent has earned him nominations in various categories. “In 2021, I was nominated for the Zimbabwe Hip Hop Awards in the Best Gospel Act Category, and in 2023, I was nominated for the Zim-Hip Hop Awards Best Underground Act Category,” he said.
Throughout his career, DeeMoses has had the opportunity to collaborate with numerous local and international artists. He believes that the City of Kings and Queens is brimming with talent and is eager to work with every dedicated artist who wishes to see their career flourish.
“So far, I have worked on a song called Glory with Brickface (USA), God of Love with Gospel Creatives (Nigeria), God Forgive Us with Adrae Jacobs (RSA), One Nation with Shawn V (RSA), and Tshabuza (RSA).”
Locally, he has collaborated with artistes such as Stones Moyo, M.U.S.E the Artist (Unreleased), Gabz Hotta Fire, Techno Fresh Beatz, King Shadow, Dorothy Chipo, and Choonkie Malete. “The list is endless,” he said
DeeMoses also expressed his desire to work with several international and local artists in the future. He mentioned Nutty O, Scrip Mula, Takura, Exq, and Tammy Moyo from Harare; Soul Brothers, Boity, Areece, and Nasty C from South Africa; J Cole from the USA; and Patoranking from Nigeria.
He acknowledged that artistes face numerous challenges in the music industry, with financing their projects being the main hurdle. DeeMoses stressed the need for investors who are willing to invest or partner by providing top-notch equipment for events, enabling artistes to deliver shows that meet high standards and offer exceptional experiences to the local market.
“If artistes had the capacity to do shows and concerts without relying on promoters, they would excel quicker,” he noted.”In terms of financing the vision, we are still looking for serious investors to partner with.
That is the major issue. Once that is sorted, the vision is sorted — from production to shows and distribution of our music. Artistes can also benefit through sponsorship packages and from investors who are willing to partner by availing their premises,” said DeeMoses.
DeeMoses has performed at the Bigger than Hip Hop concert in Bulawayo and at Weinberg in Cape Town, South Africa. He draws his motivation from daily life experiences. “I get my daily motivation from God and daily life experiences — the ups and downs, battles, wins, and losses.
Friends, family, and other artistes inspire me to be a better person and artiste as well,” he shared.
