YOU probably do not know who she is, at least for now anyway — but please write down the name Cynthia Dube who is going to be on everyone’s lips sooner or later.
Cynthia, as she is fondly known in the showbiz industry prematurely made a break at the Casper Nyovest show early this year and with the little time she was given to perform on stage, she managed to thrill fans who attended the show.
As they say, luck favours the prepared minds she grabbed the opportunity with both hands and now she has gone big in the showbiz industry.
She will perform alongside Busy Signal from Jamaica in Malawi, a show expected to attract revellers who will at least dance to her music.
If all that seems to describe the songstress ascent, perhaps the ride up came at an unexpected time for her — Cynthia has always known that she has the talent, but opportunities seemed to evade her.
She had tried many a time to make a break into the showbiz industry, but a seemingly interminable series of misfortunes made sure she never got the opportunity to exit her doubtless opportunity.
With the little time she has been given to perform on stage, the songstress has brushed off stage fright and believes she will make an impact.
Although this will be the first time she will represent Zimbabwe, she believes her abilities will go rewarded.
“I still cannot believe that I have been given the opportunity to perform in Malawi this year. It is an honour for me and I am hoping to also make an impact with the opportunity that I have been given to make this performance,” she said.
Having quickly found her niche at a tender age, Cynthia was not tentative when she was asked about the good and bad of acting.
Although she was expected to launch her album, she took the honours of going to represent Zimbabwe in Malawi alongside with one of Zimbabwe’s biggest act, Jah Prayzer, and it seems her fruits are now bearing.
“I found that I have the talent when I was really young and I decided to go for it and joined Defined house. I was expecting to launch my album but I saw it better that I represent Zimbabwe as it is a rare opportunity that came by,” he said.
So diverse are her talents that Cynthia has decided to put Bulawayo showbiz on the map and create an entertainment culture that will inevitably be appreciated by many people.
“I think singing comes naturally and I am privileged to be a part of this group. Our main aim is to create an entertainment culture that will be different from the previous ones,” he said.
With all that, her acting credo is summed up simply,
“You have to stand in front of a crowd, sing and let people boo you, you have to be continuously be in touch with your crowd and I guess that has got me places as witnessed by my trip to Malawi,” she said.
As for how she landed the opportunity to go Malawi,
“We were identified on social media by Wendy Harawa and she contacted us as she had liked the track that I did with Mzoe 7, Ndarama having excited her. It is not only an achievement for me, but my stable as well,” she said.
